Kavi Kumar Azad played Dr Hathi on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma for eight long years and his untimely death left the makers of the show in a dilemma. Should Dr Hathi’s track end with the actor’s death or should they scout for a new actor to play the character? Recently, the show’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi confirmed that they are indeed looking for a new actor and the first actor everyone zoomed in on was Nirmal Soni, who was the original Dr Hathi. In an to Spotboye, the actor who played Dr Hathi for one year when the show had just started has clarified that he is yet to get a call from the makers. Nirnal said, “How can I reply to this? I haven’t got any call from them. Let them call me first and then I will think.” Is the actor eligible to play the role though? “I am 150 kg right now. I can’t decide if I am eligible or not,” he explained. If approached for the character of Dr Hathi, Nirmal said he will surely think about it.
